An underage drinking prevention project is offering free media literacy presentations on underage drinking for youth ages 12 to 20 in the several cities including Laguna Beach.
Presentations are available to community-based and faith-based organizations, after-school programs, youth and family resource centers, high schools, middle schools, and more. The presentation reviews the marketing strategies and tactics used by the alcohol industry to promote alcohol to youth. The goal of this presentation is to increase knowledge of the creative techniques advertisers use to get the attention of youth, the persuasive influence of media messages, how advertisers target different populations, and the marketing tactics used by the alcohol industry to promote alcohol use to youth.
