Parents of young children under 5 are invited to take advantage of a free developmental screening Friday, Oct. 14, from 9 – 11 a.m. at the Boys & Girls Club of Laguna Beach.
This screening is organized and conducted by Family Support Network for families to receive a comprehensive screening to see how their child is progressing cognitively, developmentally and socially.
Each screening is staffed by early intervention specialists in audiology, dental care, emotional health, fine motor, gross motor, health, speech and language and vision.
“This is one of the most important events we offer families in our community,” states Terry Anne Barman, director of the club’s early childhood and family services. “Early detection and intervention for development delays are essential school readiness components for children. Family Support Network and their team of specialists are the best. This year we hope to see an increase in the number of families taking advantage of this important opportunity for their children.”
Children are screened on a first come, first serve basis. Due to high demand, early arrival is recommended. If capacity is reached, a child will be placed on a wait list, and a schedule of upcoming Developmental Screening dates will be given.
