Graduating Laguna Beach High School seniors Gordon Davis Belyea and Mariana Acevedo were presented with honors by the Patience Wright Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution last week.
Belyea is the winner of the annual American history scholarship earned by his essay on applying history towards his life plans and goals. Gordon is the third generation in his family to be awarded a DAR award. His father, who was present at the ceremony, and grandfather also received DAR honors.
Acevedo, who was chosen as DAR Good Citizen, addressed the assembly of over 100 people. She spoke about the award’s special meaning since she became an citizen just two years ago.
