A bus trip to Los Angeles’ Homeboy Industries is scheduled for Wednesday, June 27, and sponsored by Laguna’s United Methodist Church.
The trip is open to community participation. A bus will leave from the church’s parking lot, 21632 Wesley Dr., at 8:45 a.m. Cost is $20 per person and includes a planned stop at Olvera Street and lunch on your own at Homegirl Café. Reservations must be in by June 18 to Alie Bishop, (949) 495-4315.
Father Gregory Boyle created Homeboy Industries more than 20 years ago to provide jobs for youth that had been drawn into gangs. Boyle spokes about his book, “Tattoos on the Heart,” in Laguna in November 2010 and recounted some of his experiences.
