Garden Backers Host Town Hall Meeting
A town hall meeting for South Laguna Community Garden will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 9 at Aliso Creek Inn, 31106 S Coast Highway. The meeting will allow garden enthusiasts to share ideas on how to make a garden park permanent.
Donations for funding can be made out to CVOC/SL Garden and mailed to the South Laguna Civic Association at P.O. Box 9668, South Laguna. Contributions are tax deductible. RSVP to Tom Joliet at email@example.com.
Guest Farmer Digs Into Bioengineered Food
Iowa farmer Howard Vlieger to speak on harmful effects of genetically modified food to the environment and health on Friday, Feb. 8 at 7 p.m. at the Neighborhood Congregational Church, 340 St. Ann’s Dr.
Vlieger will discuss different types of genetic engineering in foods and will be prepared to answer questions.
Classes in Prepping Healing Foods
Alegría Fresh food classes continue on Sundays, Feb. 10 and 24 and March 10, from 3 to 5 p.m. at 1575 Bluebird Canyon Dr. with local raw food chefs Yolande Smith and Jessica McLeish.
The class will guide participants in selecting nutrition-rich foods and preparing them in different ways without the use of ingredients such as dairy, oil, salt, sugar, grain and animal protein. The program is used to help eliminate chronic disease and boost energy levels.

Bugged By Bugs?
Master gardeners Elizabeth Bancroft is the guest of Transition Laguna’s meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 12 at 7 p.m. at the Neighborhood Congregational Church, 340 St. Ann’s Dr., describing how to control bugs with the least toxic impact to humans .
Potluck will take place before meeting at 6:30 p.m.; attendees are encouraged to bring own plate, cup, flatware and a dish and beverage to share.
