Aggressive Tactics Turn Off Shopper

Editor,

There are two relatively new businesses in town, both located on Forest. I believe they sell skincare products. I can’t say anything more about the businesses because I would rather cross the street to avoid interaction than try to have a look inside their shops.

During open hours, the proprietors can be found in their doorways, or on the street in front of them, trying to engage in conversation with passersby.  A simple but firm “no thank you” doesn’t seem to do the trick and they’ll tenaciously keep hawking their wares until you’re out of earshot. Imagine if every store or restaurant resorted to this approach.

I don’t know about you, but these aggressive tactics do nothing but turn me off. We don’t do business like that here. Perhaps they should consider some p.r. or advertising to inform us about their shops. The current approach certainly doesn’t work for me. I’d love to know if others feel the same.
