Alumni Report: Laguna grads compete in collegiate fall sports

m greenough 2014If you caught “The Game” on TV Saturday, Nov. 22, Robert Clemons III ’13 was a starter for Yale in the football rivalry for the Ivy title. Yale got revenge in women’s volleyball, defeating Harvard for the Ivy’s berth in the NCAA D-I playoffs. Caroline Holte made 2nd Team All-Ivy for the Crimson (19-5) this season. Another Ivy participant in volleyball was Rachel Killian for was a member of the Brown squad that finished fourth in the eight-team Ivy standings.

Also in volleyball, Avery Bush ’12 has been part of the rotation for Loyola-Marymount (23-6) appearing in all their matches as the libero. The Lions are currently third in the WCC behind BYU and Pacific. Marissa Greenough ‘13 was a starter for Erskine College (21-9) champions Conference Carolinas. The Flying Feet lost in the NCAA D-II Regionals but will be back as Samantha Harting ‘12 joins the squad next season after transferring from Pace College in New York.

In Water Polo, Nolan McConnell ’12 is the #2 scorer for Cal-State Long Beach (20-6) the number four ranked team in D-I NCAA polo. Erik Henrikson continues to be a top D-III keeper playing for John Hopkins. Riley Thomas ’13 was on the Air Force squad this season with 16 goals, 19 assists and 18 steals on the season for the Falcons (15-15). Jack Clark ’11 is a starter for MIT (15-17) and has appeared in all 32 matches for the Engineers. Samer Alkateb ’12 is on the squad at UCSB (11-15) and has been part of the regular rotation for the Gauchos. Camron Hauer ’13 is another former Laguna player that is part of the rotation playing for Cal Lutheran (10-14).
