We are saddened by the untimely death of Annie due to inoperable cancer. She together with her handler and owner, Jean Arovas, devoted over six years to helping others in need of comfort and optimism.

Annie was a therapy dog sponsored by Animal Health Foundation, Pet Partners. She initially started her work on the medical/surgical floor at the Kaiser Hospital facility on Sand Canyon, in Irvine, and then focused on the needs of children at both the Kaiser pediatric facility in Anaheim and CHOC in Mission Viejo. She earned the highest rating available to therapy dogs, “complex.” This means she was qualified to perform all activities for which therapy dogs are used in all environments. She also cruised Main Beach where she had many friends among the homeless in need of a nonjudgmental and loyal friend. Yes, she was a very special animal and we will all miss her.
