The Live for Others Foundation art auction will go on Saturday, March 19, at the Salt Fine Art Gallery, 1492 S. Coast Highway, despite the absence of its instigator.

Laguna Beach resident Tim Vorenkamp, who curated the auction, founded Live for Others, whose mission is raising awareness about the rare cancer synovial cell sarcoma. He died from the disease in January.

Tickets are $100 and valet parking is included in the 4-6 p.m. event. Tickets will also be sold for a chance to win a custom surfboard.

The artworks may be viewed and bids and donations made online at:

Local Sculptor Wins Bench Design

Skaggs’ latest artistic bench.

For the second time, a design by 25-year Laguna Beach sculptor Dan Skaggs has been selected for a public arts project in Houston, Tex.

In 2014, his “artful” bench was fashioned after a piano keyboard and a line of music. His second design is a bronze tree reaching seven feet in height with a round, marble bench surrounding its trunk. The next bench is to be installed soon along with five others by other designers.
