Artist Giorgio Dimichina

Eyeing the Peace and Joy of Art

Artist Eye Laguna Gallery will host the works of artist Giorgio Dimichina through July 31 with an artist reception to be held at the gallery, 1294-A S. Coast Highway, from 6-9 p.m. on Saturday, June 25.

Primarily working in acrylics, Dimichina finds the medium gives him the freedom to create the mood and atmosphere he desires in his paintings.  Dimichina’s passion for drawing enabled him to pursue a career as an illustrator in Orange County, selling his illustrations and paintings to a variety of companies, corporations and private collectors.

When describing his work, Dimichina said, “It is my desire, that each of my paintings is able to provide a feeling of peace and joy. I have come to learn that people may forget the words you speak and they may not recall the things you have done, but people will always remember the way you made them feel.”

The gallery exhibits a variety of original artwork including fine art paintings in watercolor, oil, acrylic and mixed media, as well as photography and sculpture.

Skimboarding Women Create Waves With Art

An example from the exhibition

SkimChicks, the Laguna Beach-based group dedicated to elevating and legitimizing female skimboarding, is hosting a series of art shows in Orange and Los Angeles.

“Photographe Skimtastique,” combines photography, prints, oil on canvas, and athletes in costume and body art, all inspired by the women of skimboarding. After initial shows in Venice and Redondo, the exhibit shifts to Seal Beach on Monday, June 27, at Main Street Wine Cellar, 302 Main Street.

All times and additional venues will be posted on the SkimChicks website, www.skimchicks.com.
