Gwaltney Talks at LOCA Art Club
Laguna Outreach for Community Arts invites the public to a discussion with noted local artist Chris Gwaltney on Thursday, Feb. 20, 4-6 p.m. at DM Studio, 1294 S. Coast Highway, suite D, at Cress Street.
Gwaltney will present images and discuss his approach in creating abstract and figurative oil paintings, which involves construction and deconstruction, and often reveals the origins of initial drawings and poetry.

Calling All Artists
Artists interested in competing for five upcoming public arts commissions, all with deadlines in March, should obtain applications online at lagunabeachcity.net and select the cultural arts page for instructions.
Four are open to Orange County residents, though the largest prize, an honorarium of $70,000 for the police memorial, is open only to Laguna Beach artists.
Other honorariums will be awarded for competitions over street banners, winners of the Art That’s Small at City Hall competition, and two separate public art installations at Ocean and Beach and Mermaid streets.
