The annual Artists’ Benevolence Fund Art Auction takes place at the Sawdust Festival on Sunday, Aug. 11; silent bidding takes place from 10:30 a.m. to noon in the Healy House and the live auction held on the main entertainment deck from 2 to 5 p.m.

Sawdust exhibitors donate their artwork for the cause, replenishing a fund for artists with hardships such as those whose studios were flooded in 2010 or the exhibitor who fell from a ladder during booth building last summer.

Participation is complimentary with admission to the festival. And anyone may donate to the fund by sending contributions to the Artists’ Benevolence Fund, Sawdust Art Festival, 935 Laguna Canyon Road, Laguna Beach, CA 92651.

The Laguna Bluebelt Coalition and the Susi Q Senior Center embarked on a first-time collaboration, joining forces to mount “Another Day in Paradise,” celebrating the winners of the Bluebelt photo contest.

The festive reception attended by 100 people last week included a raffle for one of artist John Barber’s iconic glass sea stars.  Many of the artists also attended the event organized by Charlotte Masarik and Jinger Wallace of the Bluebelt and Susi Q art director Judy Baker.

The photos focusing on Laguna coastal scenes, tide pools, and underwater landscapes will remain on display through Sept. 6.
