See the work of multi-media artist and teacher Laura Stickney and chat with her about her work from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 7, at the CAP Banking on Art gallery, 260 Ocean Ave.

Coastal Eddy gallery will host an exhibit of work by artist owner Robin Lee Riddell from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, 1417 S. Coast Highway

Ceramic caricatures by Deborah Kaplan Evans will also be on display as will the ceramic portraits of children made by Alexandra Etamine, a Laguna Beach High School junior. The inspiration for Alexandra’s work were the children she met while traveling in undeveloped countries with her father, a doctor for Operation Smile. Work Inspired by France Earns a Pacific Edge Showing

“New Paintings From Provence and The French Alps,” work by Laguna Beach artist Maria Bertran, opens with an artist reception from 5 to 8 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 7, at Pacific Edge Gallery, 540 S. Coast Highway.

The display of 50 new oils painted on location in France during spring and summer continues through Dec. 31.

 

Workshop Teaches Marketing to Artists

A free arts marketing workshop will discuss the best practices for engaging younger arts audiences from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 20.

Linda Butler, marketing director of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, leads the presentation sponsored by the city.

Plein Air Contest Draws a Crowd

The $10,000 best in show prize at the 17th Laguna Beach Plein Air Painters Association Invitational went to Ray Roberts for his painting, “Morning on Main Beach.”

The $2,500 excellence award was received by April Raber for her painting “Meditation.” Jean Stern, executive director of The Irvine Museum, judged paintings.

Sales of work by the 35 invited artists at a gala last month surpassed that of last year’s event. Laguna Beach artist Michael Obermeyer was presented the LPAPA lifetime achievement award and local residents and art patrons Jay and Mary Linda Strotkamp were presented with LPAPA’s lifetime members award.
