Senior Art Escapes Begin at Susi Q

In a 1 p.m. mixed media class Wednesday, Jan. 30, instructor Hedy Buzan demonstrates how to combine text, images, surface treatment, ephemera and paint to create collages that explore participants’ past, present and future.

The workshop for seniors 55 and up costs $15. Bring copies of family photos or letters, journal musings, and 10 bits and pieces of memorabilia.

Grants Available to Arts Promoters

The Festival of Arts Foundation announced that applications are now available for 2013 art grants. The submission deadline is Friday, Feb. 15.

Nonprofit organizations with programs that promote fine arts in and about Laguna Beach may apply. Applications are available online at www.LagunaFestivalofArts.org or may be picked up at the administration office,  650 Laguna Canyon Rd.

Local Filmmaker Makes Distribution Deal

IMAX Corporation agreed to jointly finance, market and distribute four films produced by Laguna Beach-based MacGillivray Freeman Films for exclusive release to IMAX theaters.

The agreement ensures IMAX exhibitors will have access to a steady flow of quality, large-format documentaries. The first film in the collaboration will be set in Indonesia and explore ancient reefs and ocean life of the South Pacific.
