Festival artists compete to create the most inspired couture using reclaimed, reused or recycled material at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2 when the sixth annual Festival Runway Fashion Show returns to the Festival of Arts.

Competing for cash prizes of $1,000 in four categories are Festival exhibitors Luciano Bortone, Antje Campbell, W. Bradley Elsberry, Richard A. Evans, Troels Larsen, Elizabeth McGhee, Adam Neeley, Mariana Nelson, Dan Skaggs, John Tolle, and Kirstin Whalen.

There will also be a People’s Choice Award to be voted on at the event.

Celebrity fashion critic known for his best and worst dressed lists, Steven “Cojo” Cojocaru moves from his post as a celebrity judge at last year’s runway show to celebrity host. Selecting the winners will be a panel of judges with fashion and artistic backgrounds including model Kim Alexis and Laguna College of Art + Design President Jonathan Burke.

Sharing the runway this year will be students from LCAD modeling sports action wear from the school’s recent collaboration with Thalia Surf Shop and Vans.

  1. The image that accompanies this article is Adam Neeley’s winning design, not Brad Elsberry’s (whose design was also very lovely!)
