Supporters of the Laguna Relief and Resource Center hosted a dinner and silent auction on Nov. 1 that kicked off National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week in Laguna Beach.

Supporters were treated to Katia Bagatta’s entrees, Lynda Roth’s musicianship, a magician who entertained with sleight of hand, Joey Valenti’s film about the center, a silent auction, and a lively raffle.

The filmmaker’s mother,

Donna Valenti, spoke with passion about the homeless in Laguna Beach, reminding guests that many friends and neighbors are only a pay check or safety net away from
disaster.

The center, established in 1993 to help victims of a fire storm, today provides food and clothing and referral services to homeless individuals and low-income families.

Organizers Brenda Stouffer, Linda Wells, Donna Valenti, and Evonne Kane, who also leads the Boutique Benefit annual clothing drive and sale, were pleased by the turnout. This marks the fourth year of support by the Boutique Benefit, which to date has donated over $50,000 to the Laguna Relief and Resource Center.
