Police on a routine patrol discovered the body of a homeless man who appeared to have died a few hours earlier on Main Beach shortly after midnight on Tuesday, July 5.
The man was identified as 59-year-old Robert Hurd. “There were no signs of foul play and the man appeared to have passed away an hour or two before he was found,” Lt. Jason Kravetz said in a statement.
Hurd was found at 12:39 a.m. on the lawn area at Main Beach near the Lifeguard Tower.
The cause of death is unknown pending an autopsy by the Orange County Coroner’s Office.
This is very sad. Thank you for covering it as a top news story.
No person should have to die without a loved one by his or her side. My heart goes out to him.
