Breakers extended their Orange County record league win streak to 51 consecutive games with a pair of easy wins. Laguna defeated Godinez 12-2 last Friday, March 18, at their Centennial Park field. Dustin Angus (2 hits, 4 RBI’s) and Zak Kovacic (2 hits, 3 RBI’s) led the Breakers in hitting while Jack Loechner picked up the win. Laguna is 20-1 in their all-time series with Godinez.
On Monday, March 21, Jeff Bruyntjens home run was the highlight in a seven-run, two-out second inning rally that gave the Breakers the needed margin in a 10-4 victory over visiting Costa Mesa. Blake Burzell pitched four scoreless innings striking out six for the win as the Breakers extended their all-time series edge over the Mustangs to 56-46.
Breakers faced Sage Hill on Thursday, March 24, and a league game with Saddleback on Friday, March 25. Next week, Laguna will return to the Ryan Lemmon Tournament in Irvine. Breakers will open their play facing Irvine at 12:15 on Saturday, March 26 at Irvine’s Windrow Field.
