The Breakers football team lost 50-0 in its opener on Friday against Valley Christian of Cerritos on the home field. The loss was the most lopsided opening game in 81 seasons of play.
The Ted Clarke era got off to a rocky start as Breakers first four
possessions ended with an interception, punt, fumble return, and fumble for a 21-0 initial period deficit.
Breakers host Bolsa Grande this Friday at 7 also at home at Guyer Field. Laguna has won six straight from the Matadors including a 45-12 win last season.
Last Friday’s game also marked the first contest since 1966 that Skipper Carrillo has not run the chain gang marking the downs. The long-time volunteer watched the game from the stands after 48 seasons working on the sidelines for all home games.
