Boys Volleyball (1-0)

Breakers faced two tough matches this past week with D-1 # 4 San Clemente on Tuesday, March 10 a real test. Santa Margarita this past Thursday is ranked # 9 in the latest SSCIF D-I poll.

This Saturday, Laguna will return to the UCSB Thunderdome for the 40th Annual Dos Pueblos tournament. Breakers lost in the finals last year and should make another good run this year too.

In last week’s five set win over Newport Harbor, Isaac Wulff’s 53 set-assists in the match was the fifth highest total for a Breaker setter in a five-set match since rally scoring started in 2004. Wulff missed the pre-season work with the team this past winter playing a key role on the Laguna boys basketball squad, but the lack of play time was a non-factor in his first outing. The junior should have a great season and will be an asset for Laguna’s hitters.

Newport Match Stat leaders:

Kills: Dane Olson – 19, Pete Obradovich – 15, Tyler Alter – 13, Nick Reickhoff – 10.

Aces: Isaac Wulff – 2

Blocks: Tyler Alter and Isaac Wulff – 3 blocks

Digs: Cole Paxson – 14, Isaac Wulff – 10
