While most everyone took the day off on Veterans day, Monday- Nov, 11, the Breakers Varsity Tennis team took the courts to battle Beverly Hills. The Breakers put up a great fight but Beverly Hills was too tough in both singles and doubles. Breakers lost the match 5-15. The Breakers took two wins in singles from no. 1 Kira Hamilton (6-3) and no. 2 Ashley Shelton (6-4) and three wins in Doubles from no. 1 doubles Sarah Nederlander/Madeline Loomis (6-4) and no. 2 doubles Bailey Jaeger/Natasha Keces (6-4, 6-2).
The team season now concludes with only individual CIF left to play. Individual CIF playoffs will start Nov. 25. Individual CIF qualifiers are singles – league champions Kira Hamilton and league finalist Ashley Shelton. Doubles qualifiers are league champions – Sarah Nederlander/Madeline Loomis and league finalist – Bailey Jaeger/Natasha Keces.
There were some impressive results to the long season which consisted of three tournaments, eight non-league matches , and 10 league matches. The Breakers finished the season with a 14-4 record and an undefeated league championship. There were standout season performances in both singles and doubles. In singles, no. 1 Kira Hamilton and no. 2 Ashley Shelton dominated play. Ashley Fair stepped up to fill the no. 3 singles spot for injured Bailey Jaeger. Fair played in both singles and doubles throughout the season posting great results in both – 12 W 9 L in singles and 21 W 13 L in doubles. Coach Davis mixed up the doubles teams quite a bit during the season to find the best lineup for CIF play. CIF starters Sarah Nederlander, Madeline Loomis, Bailey Jaeger, Natasha Keces, Stephanie Tat and Malia Helms posted stellar records to win the spots.
