What a Blast! A Store for Discounted Couture

Blast Consignment, a new Laguna Beach consignment store specializing in designer couture, vintage women’s clothing, accessories, and home décor, opened for business this week.

The shop offers customers clothing from designers in women’s apparel such as Prada, Dolce & Gabbana, Michael Kors and others at 65 to 90 percent off retail prices. Inventory also includes designer and vintage handbags, shoes, and jewelry at reasonable prices, according to Blast Consignment’s owner, Nikki Krohnfeldt, who promises women a shopping experience at 1936 S. Coast Highway, north of Diamond Street, with friendly and attentive personal service. Hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

“There is something for everyone at Blast,” customer Teri Clemente said in an announcement. “I’ve actually found that it’s the only place I need to shop… I‘ve purchased everything from jeans to dresses to boots to purses to jackets to jewelry and more,” said Clement, who praised the owner’s selections.

Krohnfeldt has realized her lifelong dream of opening a women’s consignment boutique after previously owning and operating the Urban America women’s boutiques in Laguna Beach, Irvine, and Long Beach. She was also the creative force behind the “In Rags” and “Nikki K” women’s clothing lines.

New Site for Virtual Internships

Laguna Beach native Talan Torriero recently launched the niche job board site www.CyberInterns.com to connect small business owners with those seeking virtual internships. It is a marketplace aimed at making employers more efficient while helping students and other job seekers find flexible work opportunities.

“Over the last four years I have had the opportunity to intern at some amazing companies in a variety of fields,” said Torriero, who had discovered that “virtual” internships were a great way to get experience from companies based in other cities, without having to travel or relocate. When he realized there was no web site that facilitated such internships, the seed was planted for CyberInterns.com.

Torriero’s new site allows students seeking virtual internships to provide employers with a cover letter, a resume, a video resume, and the opportunity to input their Facebook and Twitter URLs. “Our hope is to constantly build the site to create a suitable environment for employers and interns to interact,” said the budding entrepreneur.
