Foundation Hires New Leader

The Laguna Beach Community Foundation hired as its president and chief executive Darrcy Loveland, a 12-year resident who most recently served as senior counsel for Kaiser Permanente.

“We are pleased to have a leader with her extensive background and experience,” said Laura Tarbox, chair of the Laguna Beach Community Foundation.

“Now I have the opportunity to devote my professional time to giving back to the community that has given me such joy,” said Loveland. “It is my goal to lead, grow and strengthen the community foundation so it will endure to support Laguna nonprofits for the long-term and ultimately, benefit our future generations.”

Fitness Studio Expands Staff

The Well, North Lagunas’ personal training studio, added two personal trainers and expanded its services, said owner and founder Brian Wisely, who opened the studio in 2008.

Former LBHS and collegiate volleyball player Stephanie Darnall Chapel joined the The Well team, who specializes in women’s conditioning. Elizabeth Goodheart has returned to Laguna after training clients in Oregon and specializes in core conditioning. They join existing trainers Kevin Swick and Shaun Nethercott.

Laguna Native Launches Site for Virtual Internships

Laguna Beach native Talan Torriero recently launched the niche job board site www.CyberInterns.com to connect small business owners with those seeking virtual internships. It is a marketplace aimed at making employers more efficient while helping students and other job seekers find flexible work opportunities.

“Over the last four years I have had the opportunity to intern at some amazing companies in a variety of fields,” said Torriero, who had discovered that “virtual” internships were a way to get experience from companies based in other cities, without having to travel or relocate.

Local Earns a Promotion at Togo’s

Laguna Beach resident Susan Koch, a CPA and financial planner, was named vice president of finance for San Jose-based Togo’s Sandwiches, a 242-restaurant franchise.

A 14-year employee, Koch’s title previously was finance director.
