Chamber Seeks Spirit Award Votes

Nominees for the Chamber of Commerce’s annual Spirit of Laguna Award were announced at the December board meeting. Awardees will be announced at the annual officers installation Jan. 25 from 6–9 p.m. at Tivoli Too!, 777 Laguna Canyon Rd.

The 12 categories and nominees are:

Business of the year, Seven Degrees, Marine Room, Lagunabeach.com;

Volunteer, Wendy Potter, Lucian Stefanini and Justin Int’veld;

Citizen of the year, Jane & Paul Egly, Pat Kolenda and Chip McDermott;

Green enterprise, Billy Fried’s La Vida Laguna, Laguna County Water District and Chris Prelitz’s New Leaf America;

Building industry of the year, Burge Construction, Morris Skendarian Architect and Gregg Abel Construction & Design;

Non-profit of the year, Glennwood Foundation, Friends of the Laguna Beach Library and Laguna Beach Community Foundation;

Restaurant of the year, Nicks – Laguna Beach, The Cliff Restaurant and The Deck;

Government official of the year, John Madison, Heritage Committee chairman, Council member Elizabeth Pearson and retired City Clerk Martha Anderson;

City professional of the year, planner Monica Tuchscher, police Chief Paul Workman, and fire Chief Jeff LeTendresse;

Retail store of the year, Coast Hardware, Laguna Culinary School and Laguna Beach Books;

Gallery of the year, Peter Blake Gallery, Laguna College of Art & Design and

Laguna Art Museum;

Professional service of the year, Surf & Sand’s Agua Terra Spa, Canyon Animal Services, Mission Hospital’s emergency room and Anneliese Schools, Inc.
