Citizens Academy Set to Start

The Laguna Beach Police Department is accepting applications for the citizen’s academy, which starts Thursday, Sept. 8 and meets from 6- 9:30 p.m. for twelve weeks, ending on Dec. 1.

The citizen’s academy is a course designed to provide community members a better understanding of the LBPD and foster better communications between police and
citizens. Instruction and practical exercises are provided in crime scene investigation, 911 dispatch, narcotics identification and more. The course also includes canine and police unit demonstrations and tours of the police department and the OC County jail.

Residents of Laguna Beach and those who work within the city limits, 18 years of age and without felony convictions may apply by submitting an application available at the Police Department, 505 Forest Ave. by Aug. 31.
