Civic Minded Needed for City Committees

The City Council is accepting applications for people willing to serve on several council-appointed advisory committees.

There are four, two-year terms open on the Heritage Committee; three, two-year terms on the TechComm Committee, and one vacancy to fill an unexpired term on the Environmental Committee. Committees generally meet once a month.

Interviews will be conducted on March 22, at 6 p.m. by the City Council at their regular meeting in the City Council Chambers, 505 Forest Avenue. All applicants will be interviewed.

The Heritage Committee advises the council on matters pertaining to historic preservation.

The TechComm Committee advises the council and the community on issues involving public access television, cable TV service, Internet access, high-speed modems and telephony.

The Environmental Committee provides guidance on water quality, marine safety, noise, air and light pollution, and open space.

Residents interested in serving should file an application with the City Clerk by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, March 15. Applications may be obtained from the City Clerk’s office or on line at the City’s web site, www.lagunabeachcity.net. Applications will not be accepted after the deadline.
