Laguna Schools Meet Seismic Standards

Engineering experts determined that three Laguna Beach High School buildings comply with state seismic “life safety” standards despite their listing on a statewide inventory of school structures deemed potentially unsafe in an earthquake.

The three LBHS buildings on the list, Dugger Gym, the stadium bleachers and the arts classrooms, were constructed in 1962.

WLC Architects, Inc. and a structural engineering firm, R. M. Byrd and Associates, which evaluated the structures, determined that the buildings were compliant with the American Society of Civil Engineers, Norma Shelton, the assistant superintendent of business services, told school board members at a recent meeting.

Transcripts Go Digital

This year, transcripts of Laguna Beach High School seniors will reach postsecondary destinations through an electronic system, Docufide by Parchment.

Docufide fulfills student requests for school transcripts and provides verification of their delivery to students.

The ability to track the transcripts electronic delivery is a key tool that benefits students as they navigate the college application process, said registrar Donna Todd.

Information about the new transcript delivery system was included in the LBHS Guidance and Counseling team’s Senior College Presentation.

To order high school transcripts electronically, students can create an account through the LBUSD website, www.lbusd.org, on the LBHS website via the Counseling tab and access the Docufide–Request for Transcript link. Information about the Docufide system is available at www.docufide.com.
