Young Designer Wins A Prize
Laguna local Dan Lopes, a University of Notre Dame senior, won third place and $1,000 in a student design competition sponsored by the International Housewares Association, says an announcement.
His design of the Scoop Pet Food Dispenser eases measuring and serving of dog food with a long hollow handle that funnels food from the cup to the handle tip and is made of a flexible plastic.
Lopes will go on to the International Home + Housewares Show to exhibit his design, where he hopes to find a manufacturer to produce his product or a job in the industry when he graduates, says the university announcement.
