Thurston’s Fundraiser is a Success

Thurston Middle School’s PTA raised over $6,500 with its recent Out on the Town progressive dinner, according to a statement from parent Amy Kramer.

Lumberyard, Nicks, House of Big Fish, Zinc Café, Sundried Tomato and 370 Common Table helped bring off the event, where participants enjoyed appetizers and drinks before dining at Nirvana Grille.

Several families also contributed as sponsors: Bill and Theresa O’Hare, Jeb and Ketta Brown, Josh and Peggy Wolf, John and Stacy Gavin, Tom and Christy Addis, Ali and Robin Rounaghi, Dave and Maricor Meriwether, Brett Jarvis, Dave and Holly Wilson, Plumpjack Wines and Laguna Graphic Arts.

 

An Unexpected Economics Lesson

Andrew Greene, of Laguna Beach, studied this spring in Nicosia, Cyprus. Greene, a junior at Susquehanna University, is majoring in business administration.

A 2010 graduate of Laguna Beach High School, he is the son of Todd and Laurie Greene.

 

Art Class Registration Begins

Registration is now taking place for various Academies in Art being offered high school students this summer at UC Irvine’s Claire Trevor School of the Arts.

Classes in digital filmmaking, drawing and painting, sculpture and ceramics, and photography will provide the opportunity to spend part of summer learning about these different topics and building their portfolio.
