Forty children in the Laguna Beach school district returned to school last week with new backpacks and supplies, complements of the Woman’s Club of Laguna Beach.

For some families, the start of the new school year presents a financial challenge. “This donation means they will have one less thing to worry about,” Marissa Hoffman, the district’s community liaison, said in a statement.

Club President Barbara Crane said, “We strive to fulfill needs not met by other charitable organizations.”
