Laguna Canyon Road reopened for morning commuters Wednesday, Feb. 15, after a 10-hour overnight closure due to a downed utility line, knocked over by a collision involving a teen-age driver from Laguna Beach, police said.

The 18-year-old behind the wheel was arrested for being under the influence of drugs, said Lt. Jason Kravetz. Neither she nor her male passenger were injured, he said.

Police Appeal for Help Catching Car Burglars

Laguna Beach police are asking for the public’s help in identifying two people believed to be suspects in seven thefts from mostly unlocked vehicles in Arch Beach Heights and the central part of town over the past two weeks.

Credit cards stolen from parked vehicles in Laguna Beach have been used at various stores in south county, including Albertson’s in Laguna Beach, CVS in Dana Point, and Wal-Mart in Laguna Niguel, police said in a statement Tuesday.

“The suspects are stealing miscellaneous items which include GPS devices, sunglasses, loose change and wallets. On one occasion, a male resident on Brooks Street saw the suspects going through his car and confronted them,” said Lt. Jason Kravetz. They fled when confronted, he said.

The suspects were seen driving a black late-year Volkswagen Jetta. The female suspect is described as Caucasian, in her early to mid-20s, approximately 5’3 and 120 pounds. Her male companion is also Caucasian, of similar age, and approximately 5’6 and 150 pounds.  He appears to have upper chest tattoos.
