Guest Speaker Plants Seed for Drought Survivors
Garden Club members will hear from Nan Sterman, will focus on low water Australian plants, at their meeting Friday, Dec. 14 at the Laguna Beach Presbyterian Church, Tankersley Hall, 415 Forest Ave.
For club members and guests, the meeting begins at 9:30 a.m. with a social half-hour followed by a half-hour business meeting with the Sterman presentation beginning at 10:30 a.m. There is no admission charge for first-time guests.
Lunch Held For Seniors
Laguna Beach seniors celebrate the holidays with their annual luncheon on Monday, Dec. 10 from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Tivoli Terrace with a traditional turkey feast for $30 per person. There will be entertainment and prizes.
Opportunity drawing tickets are available for $5 each or five for $20 and are available for purchase ahead of time or at the event.

Series Continues, Catches Thieves
The Chamber Workshop presents the second part of the series To Catch a Thief, featuring the Laguna Beach Police Department on Monday, Dec. 10 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Susi Q Community Center, 380 Third St.

Tarnished Treasures to be Revealed
Laguna Beach Woman’s Club hosts its holiday luncheon Friday, Dec. 14, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
The event features its always-anticipated tarnished treasures sale and silent auction to benefit LCAD scholarships.

Citizens Graduate Police Academy
The Laguna Beach Police Citizen Academy Class celebrated their graduation with a dinner and ceremony Thursday, Dec. 6 at the Montage resort.
This year’s graduates are Thomas Heenan, Julie Griffin,, Ray Lewis, Lorene Auger, Oluyinka Coker, Joseph Cope, Tara Deal, Paul Edmondson, Karen Gonzales-Lewis, Nancy Harrington, Wendy Jung, Robert Owens, Chad Pohle, Andrew Rivera, Mona Roberts and Jason White.
The academy is a 12-week course designed to provide community members with a better understanding of the Laguna Beach Police Department and to help foster better communications between police personnel and citizens.
Nonprofit Fundraising Reviewed
The next session of Board Chairs Academy is Friday Dec. 14 from 2 to 5:30 p.m. at the Laguna Beach Community Center, 380 Third St. Such sessions are directed towards nonprofits in the area. Cost is $125 per session, or $325 for the series.

Radio Station Looks For Support
Laguna’s not-for-profit community radio station, KX 93.5 FM has announced its first member drive, running through Saturday, Dec. 15.
New and existing members will be entered into a raffle to win hotel and golf packages.
One raffle ticket, which also grants membership and a KX 93.5 t-shirt, is $50. Two raffle tickets cost $93.50. The tax-deductible donation goes to maintain the station’s operating budget.
