Eco-Warrior Takes Up the Adopt-a-Beach Torch
The California Coastal Commission has partnered with the recently established Eco-Warrior Foundation to organize Laguna Beach’s Adopt-A-Beach Program, the first of which is scheduled for Saturday, March 23 at multiple locations.
“We are extremely proud to be partnering with the California Coastal Commission on their Adopt-A-Beach program and providing a great way for everyone to get involved and in caring for our California beaches,” said local resident James Pribram, the foundation’s executive director.
Cleanups, from 9 a.m. to noon, will begin at Montage resort’s Treasure Island Beach, at the Surf & Sand Resort on the Ocean Terrace, near the Main Beach lifeguard tower and at the Oak Street beach access, managed by David Vanderveen of Xs Energy Drinks and Tommy Donnelly of SUP Co.
Helping Reshape Downtown
Village Laguna’s monthly meeting on Monday, March 25, will feature Planning Commissioner Norm Grossman speaking about the city’s plans to update the Downtown Specific Plan and the latest proposals for the village entrance at 7 p.m. at the Unitarian-Universalist Fellowship, 429 Cypress Dr.
A special meeting on the village entrance, where councilmembers Elizabeth Pearson and Toni Iseman will report on their respective plans is set for the following night, 5 p.m. on Tuesday, March 26.
In addition, a discussion about asking the City Council to consider a gun buy-back program will be discussed.
Waves on Air and Sea Lap Casino Night
Laguna Beach FM radio station KX 93.5 is hosting a casino night fundraiser on Saturday, April 6 from 6 p.m. to midnight, at the Surf and Sand Resort, 1555 S. Coast Highway.
The theme and dress code is beach formal, meaning shoes are optional. Events include gambling, food and cover bands Dust N’ Bones and The Beatroots.
Tickets are $125 for members of KX 93.5, $150 for non-members or $1,000 for a reserved table of eight. Tickets are a tax-deductible.
All the proceeds raised will go to support the station, which promotes local musicians, arts and community causes.

The Forecast: Dark During Earth Hour
Don’t expect Transition Laguna members to pick up their phones on Saturday, March 23, beginning at 8:30 p.m.
They might be observing Earth Hour, unplugging from TVs, phones and other electronic devices for an hour as part of a movement in 130 countries to promote energy conservation and awareness.
Finding Support Through Church Group
Laguna Presbyterian Church, 415 Forest Ave., is offering an eight week Grief Support Group from April 1 to May 20, for those grieving the loss of a loved one who has passed away.
Join licensed therapist Jackie Pearson and her team on Mondays from 4 to 5:30 p.m.
