Labyrinth Reopens for Spring Meditation

 

Enter Neighborhood Congregational Church’s labyrinth Saturday, April 21, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., to meditate on the seeds of transformation.

Meet the Mayor at Neighborhood Meeting

 

The Top of the World Neighborhood Association will hold its annual Meet the Mayor reception on Sunday, April 22, from 4-5 p.m.

 

The reception, where neighbors will be able to meet and provide input to Laguna Beach Mayor Jane Egly, will be held at the home of Jess and LaVon Dines, 2945 Zell Dr.

Architect Conducts Home Tour

 

In a rare opportunity to experience an architect’s design insight in situ, renowned local architect Mark Singer conducts a tour Wednesday, April 25, of an oceanfront Laguna home whose builders pursued LEED Gold certification, a Laguna Friends of Architecture event.

Afterwards, Singer will describe the complications and challenges en route to its design solutions. “When a home is completed and experienced, it is often difficult to understand the analysis, approach and strategies that led to the solution,” said Singer.

The tour and presentation is free, however a donation is requested of $5. The meetup will be held at 992 Ocean Front, at 6:30 p.m. Go to www.992oceanfront.com for a preview of the property.

Kids’ Photo ID Cards Issued

 

Resources in Motion will be issuing photo ID cards April 23 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for member of the Boys & Girls Club, at 1085 Laguna Canyon Rd.

Prayer Breakfast Honors Volunteers

 

The Laguna Beach Interfaith Council invites all residents and guests to its fifth annual prayer breakfast, coinciding with the National Day of Prayer on Thursday, May 3, at 8:30 a.m. at Mission Hospital, 31872 S. Coast Highway.

 

Two keynote speakers will be featured: Rev. Rosalind Russell of R Star Foundation and Joyce Hansen of Rising Star Outreach. Both will focus on the “star” qualities of volunteerism and honor several volunteers.

 

A special performance by the Latter Day Saint’s Children’s Choir is also scheduled.

Art Auction Helps Glennwood Open its Doors

 

Glennwood House’s second annual art auction fundraiser is scheduled for Saturday, April 28, from 2-5 p.m. at 2130 S. Coast Highway.

 

The afternoon reception will include appetizers provided by The Beach House restaurant.

 

Proceeds will benefit this future Laguna Beach home for 50 young adults with developmental disabilities, which expects to open later this year.

Spending Cinco de Mayo with Ebell

The Ebell Club’s Kentucky Derby party and fundraiser, takes place on Saturday, May 5, at the Surf and Sand Resort, 1555 S. Coast Highway.

 

Post time is 1:30 p.m., where guests can enjoy feasting on a Cinco de Mayo buffet and sipping special Derby drinks.

 

All proceeds from the $65 per person event go to club philanthropies.

The Art of Giving Gala, dedicated to philanthropy and friendship in support of the Boys & Girls Club of Laguna Beach, is set for Saturday, May 12, from 5:30-11 p.m.
