Protecting Laguna’s Small Pets
Two recent coyote attacks have prompted the police department to warn residents to be extra vigilant when letting their cats and dogs outside the home.
Pet owners living on hillside properties are reminded through these attacks that coyotes and other wildlife roam the area, usually during darkness. Small dogs are the most susceptible to being attacked by coyotes because of their size.
Every pet owner is strongly advised to not leave their small dogs or cats unattended, police said in a statement.

Become a Civilian Emergency Responder
The next training for CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) members, who will be asked to take an active role within their own neighborhoods during emergencies, begins Sept. 5

Raffle Keeps Local Radio on the Air
Radio station KX 93.5 FM will be closing its fund raising car raffle at an open to the public party Saturday, Aug. 10 where the winner of the 1970 Oldsmobile Cutlass convertible will be announced.
The raffle party, sponsored by Laguna Classic Cars at 2171 Laguna Canyon Road, will start at 5 p.m. and include live music, a tequila bar and Kala food truck, whose operators will be donating 10 percent of proceeds to the station.
Raffle tickets are available online at KX935.com and also at the event; just 300 have been sold so far. Other prizes include a trip to Mexico or an Aliso Creek golf package.

Foundation Hosts Eco Talks
San Onofre Foundation will hold a talk about the endangered Pacific pocket mouse on Tuesday, Aug. 6 at the historic cottage 3030 Avenida del Presidente in San Clemente.
The foundation gallery, open Wednesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., displays the photography exhibit “Coastal Presence” through Sept. 30.
A second talk on Sept. 17 will discuss the surf mechanics of San Onofre and Trestles.
