Cyclist Injured in Collision

Motorists encountered a difficult morning commute along Coast Highway Tuesday, March 8, due to a collision at Agate Street involving a pickup truck and motorcycle, police said.

The collision occurred when the northbound motorcyclist struck the passenger side of a southbound truck that made a left turn at Agate Street.

The 34-year-old San Clemente rider was taken to the hospital with a hip injury, Sgt. Tim Kleiser said. No charges were filed.

Monday, Feb. 29

Reckless driving. 4:47 p.m. El Toro. A 45-year-old Newport Beach man was arrested for DUI in the wake of reports about his driving in the bike lane.

Tuesday, March 1

Traffic stop. Center St. 1:25 a.m. Kimberly Armantrout, 49, of Laguna Beach, who was stopped for an out taillight, was cited for a failure to appear warrant from San Bernardino.

Vehicle burglary. 500 block of S. Coast Hwy. 3:35 a.m. An underground-lot security guard discovered two vehicle break-ins.

H&S activity. 300 block of N. Coast Hwy. 2 p.m. Ryan Fuller, 33, of Laguna Beach, was arrested for suspicion of marijuana sales after police seized 20 pounds of marijuana packaged for sale from his car. A citizen reported seeing several people making quick transactions at the parked 2014 Mercedes. Bail was set at $25,000.

Fraud. 400 block of Hilledge Dr. 3:28 p.m. An 89-year-old woman asked for police assistance in returning $6,500 worth of face cream that she felt pressured to purchase from a Forest Avenue shop.

Suspicious vehicle. Alta Laguna Blvd. 7:40 p.m. A report about a car running stopped signs prompted police to detain a passenger, a 16-year-old Irvine girl later released to her parents, and cite Nicholas Daniel Bryson, 20, also of Irvine. He allegedly provided false information to police and was wanted on vandalism and burglary warrants.

Wednesday, March 2

Petty theft. 400 block of Myrtle St. 8:21 a.m. A suitcase, headset and money were reported missing from a car.

Fraud. 500 block of Thalia St. 12:09 p.m. A wireless headphone marketer reported that he failed to receive payment for a 200-headphone order valued at $21,000 from Chicago.

Drunk driving. 2300 block of San Clemente St. 5:48 p.m. After a car went over a guard rail, a 35-year-old motorist from San Marcos was arrested for a suspended license.

Thursday, March 3

Theft. 3200 block of Alta Laguna Blvd. 8:59 p.m. A tennis player reported that someone who took his wallet while he was playing in a match used his credit card.

Petty theft. Poplar St. 10:34 a.m. A report about suspicious activity prompted police to arrest Jason Edward Sacdalan, 42, of Venice Beach, for outstanding warrants, though an investigation is underway as police suspect he may be tied to several thefts in Laguna and elsewhere.

Burglary. 500 block of Forest Ave. 10:52 p.m. Someone broke into a van and stole cash and sunglasses.

Burglary. 300 block of Jasmine St. 12:14 p.m. A resident who left her home unlocked in the early evening discovered the theft of knives and jewelry worth $7,000.

Fraud. 500 block of Forest Ave. 3:24 p.m. A resident reported the discovery of two fraudulent transactions on her bank card.

Friday, March 4

Speed race. Thalia St. 12:52 a.m. A 30-year-old Los Angeles man was cited for DUI.

Petty theft. 300 block of Heather Place. 7:50 a.m. The title is missing from an unlocked Arson. 30800 block of Coast Hwy. 3 p.m. A trashcan in a public men’s restroom was lit on fire.

Petty theft. 600 block of Mystic Way. 4:22 p.m. A package was stolen from a porch.

Assault with a deadly weapon. 500 block of Forest Ave. 4:49 p.m. A motorist on Laguna Canyon road reportedly tried to hit a cyclist last month after the cyclist had knocked on the car to warn the driver of his presence.

Saturday, March 5

Traffic stop. Moss St. 12:20 a.m. A 56-year-old San Juan Capistrano man was cited for DUI.

Domestic violence. 1400 block of S. Coast hwy. 1:38 a.m. Mohammed Jamaal Hussein, 29, of Sherman Oaks, was arrested for suspicion of felony domestic violence after allegedly choking his girl friend. Bail was set at $50,000. Aisha Emma Mitrea, 26, who sustained a chipped tooth and pain to her neck, was also arrested for an outstanding warrant.

Petty theft. 700 block of S. Coast Hwy. 4:51 p.m. About $200 in swimwear was stolen.

Hit and run. 400 block of Nyes Place. 10:24 p.m. A 47-year-old Laguna Beach man was cited for DUI.

Sunday, March 6

Grand theft. 200 block of Beverly St. 11:50 a.m. A laptop and $5 in change was taken from a car.

Fraud report. 31600 block of Scenic Dr. 2:31 p.m. Reports are incomplete about a home buyer who discovered $30,000 intended for an escrow account was diverted elsewhere.

Grand theft. 31800 block of Coast Hwy. 6:41 p.m. A gold necklace valued at $30,000 went missing sometime after a resident was transported to a Newport hospital last month.

Monday, March 7

Traffic stop. Alta Laguna Blvd. 2:48 a.m. Dustin Gene Patton, 25, of San Francisco, and MaryJane Nicole Madrid, 31, of Costa Mesa, were arrested for suspicion of drug charges when a search of their car and persons turned up paraphernalia and methamphetamine.
