Diana Lee Kramer, a longtime resident of Laguna Beach, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on April 12, the 56th anniversary of her wedding. She leaves her loving husband, Karl Kramer, three children, two grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and an army of beloved family and friends.

Diana was born in Los Angeles on May 6, 1936.  She attended Van Nuys High School and UCLA where she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi.  She and Karl, intrepid world travelers, voyaged to the far corners of the earth, visiting jungles, temples, and wildlife reserves while traveling by boat, train, camel caravan, and oxcart.

As philanthropic as she was adventurous, she served on the board of the Karl Kirchgessner Foundation in support of vision care for the disadvantaged, and was a fervent supporter of environmental and wildlife causes, women’s issues, and education.

Legendary for her hospitality, Kramer welcomed all visitors with thoughtfulness and grace.  A devoted and tireless mother, she encouraged creativity and individuality in her children, and took special delight in the large and loving family which was her greatest source of joy.

A celebration of Kramer’s life is being planned for late summer. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in her name to Planned Parenthood, the Environmental Defense Fund, or the Karl Kirchgessner Foundation.
