Chris Barron of Spin Doctors will share anecdotes from his life on the road and songs on his old Gibson guitar during at KXClusive, Music On A Silver Platter, the station’s fundraiser from 5-9 p.m. on Saturday, June 6 at a private Laguna Beach ocean view home.

“This will be our most magical evening yet,” promised KX 93.5 Program Director Tyler Russell.

The ticket prices, $175-$195, include chances to bid on a live auction for trips and the $295 VIP ticket includes preferred seating during performances, a meet ‘n’ greet with Barron and a private tour of the estate.

OC Women Impact Others’ Lives     

Impact Giving will hold its sixth annual grant awards event at 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 10 at the Center Club in Costa Mesa, described as “our Oscar night,” by co-founder, Laguna local Ann Duncan-Levy.

The giving collective will be giving out checks ranging from $10,000 to $40,000 for requests vetted by grant committees made up of its partners. Of 50 requests, 17 were selected for consideration by the entire membership, which cast votes for the winning recipients.

Impact Giving has awarded 33 grants totaling $606,000 in five years. Its partners contribute $1,000 a year.

Former recipients include an after school learning center in Santa Ana, Lotus Outreach, which provides bikes to girls in Cambodia and Access OC, which provided surgical procedures to uninsured patients.

Spring Fete Toasts Garden’s Renovation

A spring garden fete will be held to celebrate the renovation of the Anneliese Schools’ Willowbrook garden that was destroyed in the 2010 flood.

The event will thank those who donated time and money to the cause and will celebrate them with wine and cheese, live music and garden tours.

The event is hosted by SEEDS Arts and Education Inc. and will be held on Saturday, June 6 from 4-6 p.m. at the Willowbrook campus. Tickets are $35 per person and can be purchased at www.seedsed.org.

 

$200,000 Raised for No Kid Hungry

Close to $200,000 was raised for No Kid Hungry at the Laguna Beach Taste of the Nation event last month attended by more than 500 people.

The food tasting at Montage Laguna Beach featured top chefs and sommeliers, including Mark Dacascos, chairman of “Iron Chef America” as this year’s host.

No Kid Hungry aims to end childhood hunger through education and the provision of hundreds of millions of meals to struggling families.
