Sharleen Sweeney’s re-landscaping of her Three Arch Bay yard earned kudos this week from the South Coast Water District, which presented water saver of the month awards Tuesday, Sept. 29 at a board meeting.
Early this year Sweeney replaced 400 square yards of turf with a dry creek rock garden that should save 17,200 gallons of water a year, the district estimated. She acted even before turf-removing rebates were offered and thus didn’t benefit.
