A Slice of Necessity
I asked Mom why she
Always cuts off the end of the
Ham before baking both pieces at Thanksgiving?
She said it’s what Grandma did,
But she didn’t know why,
And maybe you would know.
Does the ham cook differently,
Was it because someone liked end pieces,
Or some superstition?
When your Mother was little,
The pan we had was too small for the whole ham.
