El Morro Elementary’s PE department debuted a new program this year that is helping students learn good sportsmanship.

The program was created by the school’s PE staff Eric LaPierre, Tami Burns and Sara Rawlins.

Principal Chris Duddy applauds the department’s commitment to instilling character  while making PE fun. “This program has a positive impact on campus beyond just PE. By learning sportsmanship in physical education, the students carry this character trait over to the playground, which helps create the positive environment we enjoy here at El Morro.”

Each class works towards gaining a gold star, which is awarded as recognition for an entire class achieving good sportsmanship during their PE time. Classes that earn four gold stars are rewarded with participation in a popular PE activity after their four-minute workout.
