The fourth annual Spirit of LBUSD Award was presented to El Morro Elementary’s second-grader teacher Marilyn Beauchemin during a welcome back breakfast this week.

The award recognizes staff who exemplify extraordinary service to others.

“She embodies the qualities of an outstanding teacher; she is talented, dedicated, caring, and compassionate. Marilyn always goes the extra mile. She is a valued teacher leader who is well-respected by her colleagues. Our students and our community are fortunate to have Marilyn as a teacher at El Morro School.” Superintendent Sherine Smith said.

“She has all the qualities that we look for in our teachers,” said El Morro Principal Chris Duddy.

Beauchemin joined the district in 1984. During her career she has taught nearly every grade level K-8, served as president of the teachers’ union, on the El Morro site council and is the school’s administrative designee when Duddy is off campus.

Her favorite time of the day is the language arts block, “I love teaching students to read and exploring literature with them. I want my students to enjoy reading as much as I.”
