Girls Golf (3-2, 3-6)

Breakers picked up a pair of league wins on Monday, Oct. 1, at Aliso Creek defeating Calvary Chapel 259-263 and Costa Mesa 259-322. Estancia continued undefeated in league duel match play winning 219-259.

 

Girls Tennis (5-0, 11-3)

Breakers continue to roll through the Orange Coast League and added an additional win with a non-league victory over Beckman. Laguna defeated Costa Mesa this past Tuesday, Oct. 2, and started the second round of league play yesterday with Saddleback. Laguna has a couple of non-league matches coming up facing Los Alamitos next Wednesday and Santa Margarita on Oct. 15.

Boys Water Polo (1-0, 7-6)

Laguna bounced back last week opening league play with a 25-4 win over Saddleback on Sept. 26 with 13 different players scoring in the rout. Breakers have won all 31 Orange Coast League matches since the league was formed in 2006. On Saturday, Camron Hauer had four goals to lead the Breakers to a 12-9 victory over Coronado from the San Diego CIF. Breakers were to play a non-league match this past Thursday with Dana Hills and will face a pair of key matches next week with Southern Section, Division II second-ranked Foothill on Oct. 9 and fourth-ranked  Murrieta Valley on Thursday, Oct. 11. Both games will be a 4 p.m. start at the local pool.

 

Girls Volleyball (3-0, 8-4)

Laguna continued to roll through Orange Coast League play defeating Estancia last Thursday 25-12, 25-22, 25-22 with Alyse Wallace Ford hammering out 27 kills and tough serving from Sevana Dvorak and Alexx Murphy. The win was Laguna’s 43rd straight over the Eagles in a best-of-five set match. This past Tuesday, Oct. 2, Laguna held off a stubborn Calvary Chapel 25-21, 25-19, 25-21 with Ford recording 20 kills and Sabrina Stillwell adding nine. Francie Holte had three aces and Sevana Dvorak added four aces and 32 assists.

Breakers traveled to Mira Costa this past Wednesday for a non-league match against a still strong Mustang squad unranked in the current week’s IAA CIF poll. Breakers will face Long Beach Poly on Oct. 13 at Lakewood High School in another non-league test to help prepare the Breakers for the playoffs.
