Participants enjoy the groove during last year’s celebration.

More than a score of musicians and singers will perform in a variety of genres and locations throughout downtown Laguna Beach during the Fête de la Musique on Saturday, June 16, beginning at 1 p.m. with an opening ceremony at the Main Beach cobblestones.

The day-long festival of street music will include a number of accomplished local student performers and conclude with a 4 p.m. sing-along, also at Main Beach.

The Laguna Beach Sister Cities Association sponsors the outdoor music, held in conjunction with “World Music Day” to celebrate the coming of summer. The Fête de la Musique was originated in France and is celebrated worldwide. ” Anyone, any age, is invited to participate. Every genre of live performing music is welcome.  Amateur musicians play alongside professionals, and the entire community engages in the experience,” says LBSCA President Karyn Philippsen.
