Sandstone Gallery hosts “Entering the Circle,” an exhibition of fire infused work by Lawrence Terry, who has reversed, tamed and controlled the destructive power of fire to create unique and compelling fine art on paper.

The exhibition at 384 A N. Coast Hwy will be on display from May 3-31 and the artist on hand at the Laguna Beach Art Walk on Thursday, May 5, from 6-9 p.m.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Silk Artist Featured in Adorning Exhibit

Laguna Beach artist Olivia Batchelder will exhibit one-of-a-kind silk jackets made from her hand-painted silk, along with a new collection of silk scarves inspired by California wildflowers, during the Art of Adorning exhibition at the Bowers Museum in Santa Ana Saturday, April 23.

The free annual gathering from 10 to 4 p.m. draws creators, importers and distributors of historic and contemporary beads, fabrics, fashion items, clothing, buttons and artifacts.

Proceeds from an hourly raffle will benefit the Bead Society of Orange County.

BC Space Gallery Still Kicks in its 43rd Year

BC Space Gallery will celebrate its 43rd anniversary with an evening of food, drink, art and music Saturday, April 23.

The current exhibition “Amerikan Krazy: Life Out of Balance” features more than a score of artists whose work addresses the social, political, and environmental imbalance of human affairs.

Local musicians Mark Turnball, Jack Prather and others will perform. The event begins at 7 p.m., and the cover donation at the door is $30.

CAP Opens Group Show

CAP Banking on Art Gallery opens a new exhibition, “Contemporary Abstraction,” next month and hosts an artist reception Saturday, May 7, 11-1 p.m., 260 Ocean Ave., second floor.

The May 2 – Aug. 2 exhibition includes original works by Kate Cohen, Halverson Frazier and Fred Hope, showcasing each artist’s personal approach and style of abstraction.

 

 

 

 

Learn a Watercolorist’s Secrets at Treasure Island

LOCA Arts Education hosts a watercolor painting class at Treasure Island Beach on Sunday, May 1, between 10-11:30 a.m.

Attendees will observe artists from Laguna Plein Air Painters Association painting the scenic shoreline before touring the tide pools and taking a watercolor class. The class is open to all abilities and will cost $35. Refreshments are provided.

Participants will take home finished ocean-themed art, a journal, a watercolor kit and other related items.

Art Fest Passport Promises Savings

The Festival of Arts, Laguna Art-A-Fair and Sawdust Art Festival will again collaborate with Visit Laguna Beach to offer a summer-long $24 Passport to the Arts, good for entry to the town’s three art festivals through Aug. 31.

The Passport does not include admission to the Pageant of the Masters.

Those who buy before May 15 will be entered in a raffle for weekend stay in town.
