Film Festival Unspools in April

Tickets are on sale for the 16th Annual Newport Beach Film Festival kicking off on Thursday, April 23.

This year, the festival introduces its inaugural Made in California shorts program, a curated collection of films less than 40 minutes in length that celebrate California, its communities and its filmmaking history.

The “Water Diviner” screens at 7:30 p.m on opening night at the Edwards Big Newport, 300 Newport Center Dr. VIPs and guests will have a chance to walk the red carpet prior to the film. An opening night gala at Fashion Island, at 10 p.m. will feature a live performance and a taste of Newport Beach with light bites from local restaurants.

On Friday, April 24, the festival will host the UK Showcase followed by a post-screening event featuring a hosted bar, tastings from Newport Beach restaurants, music by celebrity DJs and a luxury fashion show.

An all-access pass for the festival is $750, opening night tickets are $225. Friday and Saturday, April 24 and 25, spotlight tickets are $65, mid-week spotlight tickets are $45 and closing night, April 30, tickets are $95.

General admission to a single screening is $14. All tickets can be purchased at: newportbeachfilmfest.com.

Trio Focoso will be performing in the Live! at the Museum concert series at the Laguna Art Museum, 307 Cliff Dr., from 7-8 p.m. Thursday April 9.

Independent musicians Shannon Canchola, flute, Claudio Alcantar, saxophone, and Hanna Aparo, piano, come together as the classical chamber trio, Trio Focoso.

For An Evening of Art and Music, Trek to Santa Ana

Arts organization RAW presents Exposure, featuring 30 local artists covering several mediums and live music from 6-10 p.m. on Saturday, April 4, at the Yost Theater, 307 N. Spurgeon St., Santa Ana.
