First Friday Flicks concludes with the showing of “The Salt of the Earth” at 7 p.m. Friday, April 1, at the Forum Theatre, 650 Laguna Canyon Road, on the Festival of Arts grounds.
The film with a running time of 110 minutes focuses on the life and work of photographer Sebastião Salgado, who spent 40 years documenting societies in hidden corners of the world.
This showing is underwritten by local residents Steve Chadima and Mark Porterfield.
Film Captures a Little Known Story
“Above and Beyond – The Untold True Story,” by producer Nancy Spielberg, will be shown free at 7 p.m. Sunday, April 3, at Chabad Jewish Center, 30804 S. Coast Highway.
The film tells the 1948 story of Jewish American pilots who smuggled planes out of the U.S., trained behind the Iron Curtain in Czechoslovakia and flew for Israel in its War of Independence.
