Two Indy columnists and a Laguna Beach Magazine contributor earned awards last week at the Orange County Press Club, which issued honors in 16 categories for work published in 2015 in print media.

Columnist Mark D. Crantz’s Pet Peeves column of last July, “Always on the Wrong Side,” earned first place in the Marjorie Freeman Award for Best Humorous Story.

Columnist Roderick Reed’s The Slant column, “Something Fishy on Valentine’s Day,” took third place in the same category.

Crantz also captured the David McQuay prize for best columnist.

Freelance writer Richard Chang, the Press Club’s vice president, took third in the best feature category for his article last November, “Capturing the Canyon: The Story of the Tell,” for Laguna Beach Magazine. The sister publication to the Indy is published by Firebrand Media, based in Laguna Beach.
