Nico Cambruzzi, a fourth grader at Top of the World’s Community Learning Center, wanted to help homeless children as the service learning project required by his teacher, Laia Hansen.

He started earlier this year by volunteering at a facility for homeless preschoolers, reading to them, providing healthy snacks and playing games with them. Nico has also started A Good Foundation, with the mission of helping the homeless children he has come to know.

“We all can have an impact no matter how young we are. Those kids are so cute; it’s not their fault they are where they are. There is so much need, I can only start at the basics and work up from there,” said Nico.

Nico hopes the community will assist him in providing donations of new boys and girls underwear, t-shirts and socks in sizes 2-6 by Wednesday, Dec. 10, at drop off locations are TOW Elementary and Curls on Top hair studio, 998 S. Coast Highway.

He will also be collecting donations at the Saturday Farmers Market on Dec. 6 from 8-11 a.m.
