Laguna residents Nicole and Peter Anderson established a donor advised fund at the Laguna Beach Community Foundation and plan to use it to support environmental, social and educational causes as well as to teach their two boys about the value and joy of charitable giving.
“We plan to involve our children in the selection of the charities we support to teach them early about giving back to the community we all love,” noted Mrs. Anderson, a local estate attorney and co-chair of the foundation’s professional council, which includes attorneys, accountants and wealth advisors.
She also serves on the board of the Laguna College of Art & Design and Laguna Beach Business Club and is a member of the Laguna Beach Professional Alliance.
The couple also contributes to Impact Giving and United Way.
The foundation connects donor passions with nonprofits needs in Laguna Beach and across the country.
Establishing a donor advised fund creates an immediate tax-deduction but donors retain the right to recommend donations to nonprofits and enjoy the benefits of a private foundation without the administrative reporting and regulatory requirements, said Darrcy Loveland, the foundation’s president and chief executive.
